The creative path of the artist Armen Harutyunyan begins as early as the years of studying at P. Terlemezyan College of Fine Arts (later Yerevan State Academy of Fine Arts) when the author was already coming up with original artistic handwriting and innovative ideas.
Man is the main object of study at different stages of the painter's work. The compositions made in recent years are noteworthy, images with separate plots, but have an artistic and thematic commonality. The author's art is built around a person who is not separated from the chaos of the real world. The collisions of reality with fictional reality are the compositions of the artist. Reality appears here in an irregular rhythm of large non-objective pieces of changing colors, which are counterbalanced and opposed by the fantastic figures of humans, specifically children. In the chaos, only the human figure is precise, which can be seen as the artist's alter ego, often as a child. In each scene, we meet those characters holding a flower, a gun, a bird ... In these images, one can encounter the collapsing world of absurd situations, which for a moment seems to stop before the innocent gaze of a child. The child, as the embodiment of goodness and purity, stares at the viewer as if calling for a dialogue. He brought the message of love and hope.

The color and texture complete and condense the author's ideas, strengthening their emotional impact. The individual symbolic images found in almost all of the artist's canvases (birds, houses, windows, etc.) have symbolic importance. They are guiding images made with simple, even childlike directness. Speaking about Harutyunyan's art, it is necessary to highlight the importance of color because it often takes on a figurative character, forming an important part of the action.
